'We're having a party', North Seattle couple turns 101 together | Events
He's traveled all over the world, been a pilot in the Marine Corps, served as a firefighter in Seattle and this weekend Joe Epler will celebrate his 101st birthday with his 101-year-old wife Marion.
"We had a big party last year when we both turned 100-years-old, so, I guess one more year is tolerable. We are both in reasonable health," said Joe.
Joe's birthday is February 18th. His wife's is February 27th.
On Sunday, the Ida Culver House is throwing the couple a birthday bash.
Joe and Marion were long time family friends before getting married at the age of 81. Both of their spouses passed away, "And we decided we should be together," said Joe.
So what's the secret to couple's health success?
"People ask us that and I say we have always kept very busy. I have been involved in community affairs most my life and so has Marion. We lived most of our lives right here in Seattle but we've also been all over the world, you know. When we were 90-years-old we traveled the world by ship," said Joe.
Joe expects good food, friends and a little jazz music on Sunday. We're told the two still love to dance.
